Get The Nail Look – Christina Hendricks in LA Times Magazine

christina-hendricks-china-glaze-stella-la-times-magazine Rather than give any more attention to that other redhead whose nails have been making headlines I’d rather talk about the stunning Christina Hendricks who is gracing the cover of this month’s LA Times Magazine.  Is anyone else counting down the days until the return of Mrs. Harris née Holloway and the rest of the Mad Men crew?  Only a a few more weeks!

I just love Christina Hendricks and how comfortable she is with her gorgeous, real shape.  To match pair with her retro look Green Celebrity Nail Stylist Jenna Hipp chose a polish from the China Glaze Retro Diva collection, Stella.  Very apropos, no?  The rich burgundy shimmer looks a lot more scarlet on camera but it’s the perfect accent to her auburn locks and moss colored chapeau.  Who says redheads can’t wear red?

To ensure a flawless look, Jenna used Kiss Press-On Nails with Nail Esque Press-on Adhesive Tabs that use 3M technology to keep your tips in place.  I must admit that after my Dashing Diva press-on experience I’m curious about whether the tabs will help them stay on longer.

Anyone tried the Nail Esque tabs or something similar?  What was your experience in terms of wear time?

Kiss has their own “Mega Hold” tabs that make it much easier to apply their nails than glue. But, they really aren’t for long term wear – I think they say for “one day hold”.

I’m in love with ChG Stella! I’m a redhead and that doesn’t stop me from wearing red either. I haven’t tried the new technology press on nails… I guess I still have too many nightmares about the old style falling off all the time! :)

I saw the new Mad Men spread in Entertainment Weekly and couldn’t stop waving it around in my boyfriends face going “Yaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!”. I can’t wait!

What other redhead? Sorry, I’m confused and out of the loop haha

I was referring to Lindsay Lohan’s manicure where she had the words F*ck You printed on her middle finger. She wore it to her court appearance the other day and it’s been getting a lot of press. I even saw it mentioned on the Today Show yesterday.

      • Lala says:

Oh blah! That’s in such poor taste. I much prefer the nails that you featured :) Sorry to cause you to make mention of her even though you were trying to avoid it!

I haven’t tried the new tech for press on nails but will do. A one day hold would be fabulous for a special occassion. I train a lot and have to keep my nails short except when I am injured and can let them grow. Quality press ons sound perfect. Till now I think of them as super tacky or only last an hour or so.

    Thanks! Love the post.

  10. best body in show biz!!!! she is insane!

  11. Faye says:

As always, she looks gorgeous! It makes me so angry when I read that nasty New York Times style piece calling her fat after the Golden Globes this year. I’m tall and very thin and let me tell you, I wish I looked more like Christina.

I wonder what lipstick she is wearing in this picture?

  12. Sharon says:

Faye…they called her fat? OMG I think she has a gorgeous shape and I bet most men would say the same.

Press on Nails. I have never tried them. Will they damage my natural nails? There are so many pretty press ons I would love to try some.
