Katy Perry’s Bejeweled Holo Madness at the Kid’s Choice Awards

katy perry holographic bejeweled nails kimmie kyees milani nickelodeon kids choice awards When Katy Perry TwitPic’d her nails late night on Saturday, I knew Celebrity Manicurist Kimmie Kyees had to be the brains behind this look.  Sure enough, I check my inbox to find that Kimmie had done Katy’s nails for the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. For Katy’s nails, Kimmie created custom tips using Milani Hi-Res from the 3D Holographic collection.  She randomly placed square, round and heart shaped nail gems in a rainbow of colors for a fun and funky look.  One look at Katy’s dress and you can see how the stones played into the overall look.  You can never accuse Katy of being afraid to “go there” with her look.

THANK YOU for this post! I was studying her nails last night.

  6. Tiger says:

Wow, that was very skillfully matched! I’d like it better if the dress was at least long enough to cover her panties properly though.

  7. Before I read the text I was looking at the nails thinking, those are tips, I can see the ridges…then I read and thought, OF COURSE they are! What star has the time to sit and wait for something like this to be created on their nails??? I’m jealous of their busy-ness but also glad my nails are real.
These are really cool and finish her look so well. Katy does rock the nail coordination thing better than most.

  8. Polishis says:

I love the nails and the huge sparkly ring, would wear it for sure!!! But the dress…don’t think they would agree with that at work

  9. Lucy says:

They’re hella pretty and I definately would wear (the nails, not the dress)

  10. mmarthaac says:

I think they were sooo perfect for the dress and the event, sure I could wear them in real life for a funky event or to the club…

  11. Faith says:

I would TOTALLY do this :)

  12. Susie says:

Personally, I wouldn’t wear them but they do look good with the dress. And she’s young enough to get away with this look.

  13. Sylvia says:

Oh honey! I look like this when I go to the grocery store! ;)

  14. Tanya says:

I’m more into a rounded-square nail shape. I have long fingers and longish nailbeds; oval nails makes them look kinda “clawish.”

I also “need” to have a mani last me more than 2 days. While I don’t exactly “work (alot) with my hands,” I tend to loose any glued on nail art, quickly.

I suppose, it’s a neat thing, if you have a special occasion, though. :)

  15. Charlotte says:

I like the design of her nails but not the shape. I much prefer the squoval she had for her blinged up manicure when she wore that lace dress, to the grammies maybe?

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Do you mean the crystal manicure from the MTV VMAs? That was last September and she wore crystals on her nails with a sliver polish underneath.

      • Charlotte says:

Yes that’s the one, much nicer shape that time. Btw, are these falsies? They look a bit odd in her twitpic.

  16. carol says:

I used to do nails and wore them like that all the time. Love those nails!

  17. Jackie S. says:

This looks is fun! I would rock them for a night out, but that’s too much bling for the day time. LOL!

  18. Alllison says:

hell yes i would! I remember when you posted about her all white bejeweled nails and then tried to them yourself!

  19. Glitterati says:

Ya know, I just thought they were kinda fun seeing the nails on their own. But next to the dress, shazzaam! Super hot! I would totally wear that to a kid’s birthday party. Or my own birthday party, for that matter.

  20. Dee says:

Nails, oh yeah. Definitely the nails. The dress. No way. It looks too much like Tinkerbell.

  21. Meika says:

I remember when I used to wear those crazy funky designs on my nails. Who am I kidding, I still would. Thank God for my Konad and rhinestones.

Love it! I wish I had some appropriate reason to bejewel my nails. They are so fun and seem to suit her well. I do feel like her nails are a bit long though…

  24. Mc Huggs says:

Love that shade of polish and her dress and her sparkly glittery nails are just amazing looking. Those are tips, right? Are there two different pics, the one in the circle is the one she was wearing with that lovely dress. The other pic is not the same, or is it? At any rate, I love her look.

    Mc Huggs :)

  25. Kellie says:

Why do they looks so .. weird? Like they’re lee press-ons that are a size too big for her fingers?

  26. Jackkie P says:

I would definitely wear them. love em!
