OPI Shrek Forever After Collection Preview

Posted on February 6, 2010
OPI Shrek Forever After Collection OPI Shrek Forever After Collection PreviewOPI is really getting into the whole Hollywood collaboration game.  90210, then Alice In Wonderland and now Shrek?  Granted it’s not the first time they’ve gone down this path (Legally Blonde 2) and they’ve certainly embraced Broadway (All Shook Up, Holiday On Broadway) but so many film & television themed collections in such a short span.  Makes me wonder if they’re running out of ideas or really wanting to up their marketing game.  Not that OPI needs it.  I mean, even people that NEVER polish their nails know OPI.

Regardless, a collection based on a big, GREEN ogre is so up my alley.  It’s guaranteed to have some fun and funky shades.  None of those boring reds like the 90210 polishes and Off With Her Red!.  As first reported by Chic Profile the collection includes:

OPI Shrek Forever After Collection nail polish Summer 2010 OPI Shrek Forever After Collection Preview

Funky Donkey, What’s With the Cattitude?, Rumple’s Wiggin, Who the Shrek Are You?, Ogre-the-Top Blue, Fiercely Fiona

Please, please, please let Fiercely Fiona be a soft yellow that is pigmented AND applies well!!!

There is no release information at the moment and I’m not sure if this will be their Brights entry for the summer or just a special edition release.  If you have details to add, please share with the group.  In the meantime, are you in love with the idea of this collection or what????

Totally with you on the Fiona polish! I’m still looking for the perfect soft yellow, I have some nice ones now but it still hasn’t fulfilled my longing. This looks like a fun collection! I’m all about that ogre.

  2. Vanessa says:

I share your hopes regarding Fiercely Fiona!

  3. Euridice says:

ha ha, this is pretty awesome for a collaboration! I do love the Shrek movies. Fun! And how awesome is that there there are NO REDS!!! OPI is always on such red overload (Alice = 2 out of 4 red, then Holiday 2009 like half were red). I can’t wait to learn more, thanks for sharing!

  4. Rebecca says:

I’m wondering if Fiercely Fiona is going to be a dupe of the pale yellow from China Glaze’s Up Up and Away collection?

  5. PolishFreak says:

hmmmm…not too sure what to think…I mean there are definitely some pretty colors here, but really OPI another Hollywood Collab. I agree it does seem like they are running out of ideas…Can’t wait to see the collection in person though there are a few that I’m eyeing…

  6. sara says:

ehhh…i would’ve preferred it if it was more GREEN! shrek is ALL ABOUT GREEN!!!

  7. HeidiG says:

Love these colors. Given that Shrek Forever After is supposed to be released May 2010, I imagine the polish collection will be out around then.

And total ditto on the Fiercely Fiona…yummmmy!

  8. Inês says:

I must confess that when I knew about this I simply thought: WTF?! Other than that, I hope they won’t be just cremes, Who the Shrek Are You looks like a lovely base for a frost, imo :)

  9. *sigh* OPI has been appealing to my Movie senses lately. I want this entire collection just for the fact that it is Shrek. I bought all 4 of the Alice in Wonderland polishes just because they were about Alice in Wonderland. I think I have a problem. haha

  10. kira says:

i love the colors, but to me shrek is fun and vibrant, not pastel like these. i am in love with the blues and purples!:D

  11. Steph says:

I agree about Fiona, I’d love a GOOD soft yellow. My guess is that the green will be sick, though. Have you SEEN Shrek? Get ready for baby poop!

  12. KittytoKaren says:

I know I’m in the minority, but I’m not really feeling any of these! I love the concept though – so cute!

  13. Isabelle says:

This got me SO excited! I’m also hoping the same thing for the Fiona color.

  14. Em says:

EEEK! Just when I thought I didn’t need any more polishes! lol. I’m loving that light blue! It’s exactly what all of these spring collections are missing. Maybe it’ll be similar to my long-time lemming CG- Moody Blue. That yellow is kind of scary! I’d love an awesome pastel yellow, but I’m afraid that one will be BRIGHT. I mean look at the green, I think that yellow will be along the ‘vibrant and bright’ almost sickish tones lol. But I’m hoping not, we’ll have to see! Wonder when they’ll release it?

Thanks Michelle! Enjoy your weekend! Down here in Y-Town OH, we got 27″ of snow last night, it’s crazy!

  15. Michelle says:

I really want the Shrek colour. And ofcourse, a pigmented soft yellow would be great!

  16. Virginia says:

These colors are kinda cute. Not terribly exciting though. I do have to add that I LOVE Off with Her Red. It’s the perfect red for my skin tone and I received so many compliments.

  17. HELLZ YEAH!!!! Cant wait for this one and omg! Im totally with you on the yellow wishes! :)

  18. Cindy says:

This looks like a fun collection! I can’t believe they didn’t do a red!

  19. Maria says:

With you on the Fiona – fingers crossed. I would have loved to see a brown in the collection – something more brown than You Don’t Know Jacques, but a muddy brown like the swamp bog. C’mon! Shrek’s an ogre! If he’s not green, he’s bathed-in-mud brown!

  20. Andi says:

All of these are so cute! I hope they’re all creams, then I’ll get them all!

  21. Kelsey says:

OH MY GOD. Please, please, please let Funky Dunkey be a TRUE purple creme!!! I love the OPI formula, but they are really lacking in true purples (in the same vein as ChG Grape Pop). I am also totally going to get the 2 blues in this collection.

  22. gildedangel says:

Those all look so cool!!! I have my eye on What’s With the Cattitude?!

  23. kira says:

who makes grape juice? i saw it on this site once and i thought it was a amazing purple

  24. Brooke says:

I am totally in LOVE with the idea of this collection!! I adore Shrek, so this looks like a lot of fun (although I agree – totally out of left field). I really like Who the Shrek are You and Fiercely Fiona could be just the yellow creme I’ve been looking for :)

  25. Khabeer says:

    I want them all!!

  26. Andie says:

I saw the promo pics for this collection a couple of days ago and first I went “Wth?”, but a second later, as I looked at the colors a bit more I was extatic! I can’t wait to buy What’s with the Cattitude? (perfect name for me since I’m a crazy cat lady ;) ), Who the Shrek Are You? (the other day I was just thinking I need a Shrek-colored polish, seriously) and Fiercely Fiona (hope it will be lighter than Banana Bandanna, which I love but wishes it was a tad lighter) and I’m planning to order them as soon as they’re available.

I’m not a Shrek fan at all, in fact I don’t get why anyone over the age of 12 would want to watch animated movies at all, but the colors in this collection look fantastic. Well done OPI!

  27. K says:

Okay, I really see myself buying ALL of these, even though a of yet I have NO O.P.I nail polishes in my collection. Great colors. I get so sick of pinks, browns, tans, mauves, and reds!

  28. Cherie says:

This collection looks too cute! I will totally pick up Shrek and maybe some others based on swatches :)

I like the colours they picked and the names kill me – too funnny! However, I would have liked to have seen a grey for Donkey, a soft orange for Puss and maybe a colour based on the Dragon.

  29. Alexis says:

Are those cremes, or shimmers? I kind of wish they were all sparkly, super frosty silvery shimmers – that’d be fun, and a nice change from all the creme pastels so far this year! What’s With The Cattitude, Fiercely Fiona and Ogre-The-Top Blue are the ones that immediately catch my eye, but if they all had a fun finish I might want all of them. Who The Shrek Are You kind of does look like baby poo, though :D

  30. laquermanic says:

For me they can collaborate with all the film makers in the world, as long as it brings out new, lovely colors. I think this collection looks great, and can’t wait to see it IRL.

  31. Jen says:

If the blue is a dusty, dirty blue and Fiona is a dirty, muted yellow then fine! Otherwise I don’t need them. They look a bit frosty to me and that would be awful!
    Not impressed.

  32. Eva says:

    I like them :D
funny to pick a thing ugly as shrek for a pretty nailpolish collection :D

nd the purple one is called Funky Dunkey ;D Not donkey :)

  33. SalvagedExpression says:

The colors seem fun enough but definately not what I would have expected in a Shrek collection.

  34. daisychain says:

Long time lurker de-lurking for this, I am so excited haha. Best get saving now.

  35. Faye says:

Hehe I think this is a really cute idea! I love the look of Funky Dunkey!

  36. Violet says:

You know… my husband and I absolutely hated Shrek (we’re the only ones, we know!) but I *need* every single one of those polishes! I love pastel cremes!

  37. Emma says:

    This all looks very nice!

  38. Abidi says:

I saw swatches and they are all cremes (no shimmers). The yellow is halfway between soft and neon and will look excellent on darker skin. The green from this collection will be the star for sure! Available in May I think is what I read.

  39. ainamakeup says:

I’m surprised there’s no green in there. I mean, it is Shrek! lol

  40. Samantha says:

It appears like I may have to buy this collection too — it’s got all the colors that I’d easily go for. However, I’m not too keen on pastel cremes so I hope that these will be easy to apply even for me.

  41. lil says:

    SWATCHES WE NEED SWATCHES LOL:)

    • lily says:

i just seen a swatch of shrek, its gonna be the STAR!

      • Em says:

If you are seeing swatches, please post the link on here for everyone to view. I’ve googled everything and have not found 1 site with swatches yet. So I’m not sure where you’ve seen ‘shrek’ at.

  42. Danica says:

Wow! This collection looks really great. It’s kind of pale, but not too pale. I am liking that first dark purple.

  43. Erica says:

It’s not often that I’m excited about an entire collection, but I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS ONE!!! I will own every single color!

  44. kelliegonzo says:

yeah… weird. haha. seems rather cheezy to me but oh well. fiercely fiona looks promising but we’ll see.

  45. The Brown Barbie says:

It would have been cool to see a deep brown with like a green duo chrome or super fine green glitter…….

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Oh nice! That would be cool. If the movie launched in fall, I’d bet they would have included some darker shades

  46. Andrea says:

I’m not into the Shrek movies, which is weird b/c most people are, but I’m not. However, I am interested in these polishes b/c I’m interested in basically anything OPI. I, too, hope they’re all cremes. I really don’t like other formulas b/c they seem so out of style or something.

This is the first I’ve heard about this Shrek collection. Thanks for the post ALU!

  47. Polishis says:

I’m really looking forward to the swatches of this collection, the promopics don’t give me enough info and the colors don’t look bright and colorful as the movie. But oh how I’m happy to see no reds. And love the names, i’m one of those people who buys a polish just for the name…
