butter-london-Secret-Jelly-spring-2010 All you JELLY polish lovers have a reason to rejoice this Spring.  butter LONDON is launching a collection of three sheer but buildable jellies in a fruity array of hues.

According to butter LONDON Creative Director Nonie Creme, “The idea is juicy, sheer colour that looks and feels like slick, wet “lipgloss” for your nails.” Check out detailed preview images of Chuffed, Stroppy and Twee after the jump!

butter-London-Jelly-spring-2010-Display The concept behind the JELLY line is that the colors can be worn as a sheer kiss of color or a semi-sheer tint. Think Lippmann Rehab and I Want Candy from Fall 2007. Rehab is still one of my fave blues even though it needs 4 coats to become opaque. There’s just something about that jelly finish that I love. I know a ton of you agree.

Nonie designed this palette with the intention of layering the shades to create new colors. I imagine combining Twee and Chuffed would make a pretty coral and I’m wondering if Stroppy and Twee would make some sort of magenta concoction.

Of course all the polishes are named in bL’s signature style, using British slang and phrases.

Chuffed is an expression of pleasure (ie geeked, stoked, etc) and I’m certainly pleased at the prospect of this tangerine dream.

Stroppy is slang for a moody “bitter betty” type person.  Though to me, a gorgeous purple is anything but miserable.  It looks like a bottle of pure joy.

I found two definitions for Twee online.  One being things that are dainty or quaint.  The other refers to something that is overly sweet or cloying neither one being a positive connotation.  I’m assuming Nonie meant the latter when she named this sugary pink.

The JELLY collection from butter LONDON launches this spring. I don’t have an official release date though it won’t be until February or March.  butter LONDON polishes retail for $14/ea and are available online at butterLONDON.com and Beauty.com.

Are we loving these jellies for spring?  In an effort to better suit your needs, are these polishes you’re dying to see swatched?  What’s your favorite jelly polish?

I would love it if you could swatch these! I’m loving the pink and purple shades, but have detached nail beds and cringe at the thought of sheer polishes. I’ve been wanting to try this brand for a while now. BTW, I bought the Baptiste shade of Illamasqua polish that you reviewed and love it! Thank you for the swatches and great pics and reviews!!!!

*gasp* are those sparkles I see in those bottles? I’m not sure if I want it to be there or not…I love sparkles…but shiny cremes/jellies are so pretty too!

I can’t tell if they’re sparkles or not. I’m curious to finally see them in person.

    • All Lacquered Up says:

I’m hoping this is a new line with new colors coming in the future and not just a one time thing.

  19. spacegeek says:

I’m new to polish but since cutting back on salon services, I’ve been doing my own. Your blog has inspired me to move out of my “comfort zone” and try new things! So I’d like to see the pink and purple swatched! (And I know nothing of jellies, but I learn fast!!)

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Aww, I’m so glad I could help you push your limits with color. I’m really excited for the purple jelly.

  20. Hannah says:

I have just ordered my first Butter polishes after obsessing over them and took the plunge and ordered, very excited! These look amazing! I haven’t ever worn jelly polishes but sound fab for summer! I hope they do them in a pack! x

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Oh what did you get??? I’m sure they’ll do a pack, hopefully for less $$ than the individual polishes combined

  21. robin says:

I got the Butter London Thames (green shimmer) and the Chancer (red glitter) when they were on sale last year. They go on really well and lasted great with my Seche Vite. I actually did a ‘french’ manicure for Christmas with Thames and Chancer for the tips with a gold line between the two!!

  22. Rachel says:

I can’t decide if I should just preorder all three NOW, or wait to see if they’ll come in a set! Ahhhh! Not sure I am patient enough!!

  23. Rachel says:

So, um, yeah… totally bought all three today! I just couldn’t wait. CANNOT wait to try them all! I’m hoping it will brighten up my life until the sun comes out again in May (fellow Cleve girl here!)

  24. Lisa DuMond says:

Argh! I’ve been searching for these jellies ever since I became aware of them. Unfortunately, I found out much too late and didn’t snag a one! I’m going to try to swap some of my indie/handmade polishes for them. Wish me luck!
