The ALU Archives – Illamasqua Phallic

alu-archives The ALU Archives focuses on older, beloved shades from the All Lacquered Up stash.Talking about Illamasqua’s new colors yesterday reminded me that I had never showed you one of my fave shades from their core collection, Phallic.  First of all, you gotta love the name.  Like my blogging pal Mel with her Penis Tuesday series, I love a fun penis reference.  I even won a knit, purple, penis-shaped lip balm holder (link NSFW!) from her site. The fact that Phallic is a stunning blue shimmer makes it all the better.  Check out the gorgeousness after the jump!

Phallic is an eye catching jewel-toned navy with royal blue micro-glitter dispersed throughout.  As you’ll see below, the glitter gives a “lit from within” glow when it catches the light.  The formula applies flawlessly.  It’s not at all thick or gummy, just smooth perfection going opaque in two coats.

Illamasqua Phallic is available on Illamasqua.com, Sephora.com, select Sephora stores and Selfridges in the UK.  Prices vary by retailer.  In the US they retail for $14/ea.

Who else is a fan of Phallic?  If you haven’t joined the cult of Illamasqua yet, will this one get you to succumb?

When (If, sadly) Illamasqua ever appears at my local Sephora, this nail polish is at the tippy top of my list to buy! (But only because I already have Baptiste!)

This is stunning. How would you compare this to OPI’s Yoga-ta Get this Blue?

  5. Nancy says:

  12. jen says:

I love it! Looks rich enough to make me happy, but deep enough to pass as office-friendly.

I’d love to hear how it compares to other deep navys. Blue is one trend I hope never ends!

  13. Patty says:

Wow! I just got hit with a wave of nostalgia. Phallic looks EXACTLY like the first nail polish I ever owned at the tender age of 8. It was called Camaro and it was that same gorgeous navy blue with glitter. Thanks for this.

  14. Stef says:

I knitted penis shaped chapstick holders for my friends for X-mas! SO cute!

  15. Suzanne says:

    I have this, it’s awesome!

The name? I don’t get it. If “phallic” were any type of skintone, it might have made sense. If your phallus is navy blue with sparkles, I think you need to see a doctor. Not to mention, I’ve seen a gazillion brands doing this color, and they all look pretty darn close to Revlon’s Midnight Affair, which is cheap and easy to find. Not impressed.

  17. Patti says:

Hahahaha, Im glad you liked my creation, Michelle! I was kinda excited you won because I read your blog every day. Thats how I found Mels blog!!!!!

  18. Oh wow, this is absolutely gorgeous!

  19. Faye says:

Heh heh . . . is it childish that when I saw the blue color of a polish named “Phallic,” my first thought was “Brings new meaning to the phrase ‘blue balls’?” :)
