RGB-Minty-Holiday-9-bottle The mint green polish train isn’t slowing, are you still on board? I know I am! Give me more, give me more!! RGB Cosmetics announced their holiday offering, Minty, today on their Twitter account which makes it a great time for me to introduce it to you.If you recall, when I reviewed RGB’s Fall collection I was a bit let down by the lack of uniqueness as compared to the Pre-Fall colors.  Well Minty certainly piqued my interest.  As if a green exciting me is news, what really gets me is that I have yet to find any true dupes among the ones I own.  You won’t find me complaining about that.  Check out Minty along with its closest living polish relatives, after the jump!

If you missed my full RGB review and 5-day wear test, check that HERE. In regards to Minty’s formula it was a bit on the thick side and a little problem child-ish in application.  I till got two coat coverage due to the high level of pigmentation but the brush hairs were pretty splayed so I had to be careful to avoid hitting skin.  That could just be my specific brush.

Minty is a blue tinged mint green that dries a bit darker than I can capture in a photograph. It’s not at all pastel and chalky. In fact it reminds me of a piece of Chiclet gum on the nail.

I weeded through my stash to come up with some comparisons and the most blue-based of the bunch are Barry M Mint Green and Essie Greenport. Essie Mint Candy Apple is SO pastel that they don’t even look like relatives.  As you can see, Minty falls somewhere between the two and even though the Barry M looks pretty blue based on its own, next to Minty it looks very green.

RGB Minty is on sale NOW at RGBCosmetics.com and retails for $14 with complimentary (ie FREE) shipping.

So who’s still loving all these mint greens?  Anyone else planning to wear one for the holidays like I am?  Who’s tried RGB and what do you think?

That’s such a pretty color! How does it compare to MAC’s Peppermint Patty? I have that one, but it’s pretty streaky too.

  2. ashley says:

I picked up Essie’s Mint Candy Apple this weekend and I haven’t got a chance to use it yet but I’m already wanting more mint green polishes!!

  3. Laura says:

OT, but have you ever done a post about applying nail polish? Your manis always look so good and I’m wondering what your procedures are for applying polish so precisely.

  4. Caitlin says:

This is beyond gorgeous. I was planning on wearing China Glaze Emerald Sparkle for the holidays, but I think now I’m def going to go for minty green nails instead. Hmm, I know I shouldn’t be spending any money on myself until after the holidays… but with the free shipping, i’m tempted. Great swatch :)

Thank you for posting this! Ever since I saw the email from RGB announcing this last night I’ve been dying to know how Minty compares with Mint Candy Apple! Now I don’t know which I’d rather have.

I got Essie’s Mint Candy Apple. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m kinda lemming OPI’s Damone Roberts mint green shade. You know what would be hot? a mint green jelly shade!

  7. amy says:

I love the mint greens, they are so cute! I am still looking for a Essie Greenport because I forgot about their April release.

  8. Diane says:

I am loving the minty green trend. My nails right now are Essie Mint Candy Apple with Greenport tips, and I can’t stop staring at them.

I have Essie’s Mint Candy Apple and tried it… I am not a fan of the formula. To me, it seems gunky and doesn’t go on very smoothly. How do the the colors compare between MCA and Minty?

  10. elizabeth says:

Thanks so much for the comparison! Does RGB normally have complimentary shipping or is this just for the holidays?

  11. Ashley says:

I also have Essie’s MCA, and while I love the color, it is a nightmare to apply. I hope you will do a comparison of the new China Glaze Spring 09 “Up and Away” re-fresh mint to the Essie.

    Hi Michelle:

I lover the RGB Minty Green’s and the three nail polish comparison. I had no idea how bluish green some of the other polishes look compared to RGB. Nevertheless, they all look gorgeous on your nails. I know you love your green’s and wonder which one will you wear (if not green then what color) do you plan on wearing for Christmas Day?

Your web blog is so cool and look forward to it every day. I even send the web blog to my woman friends’ every chance I get. I am still loving your signature collection from Barielle Shades but these greens are sensational and loving them all.

    (((((Love Michelle)))))

I love these. Damone Roberts. Jade. I have the Barry M and I love it. I probably have more greens than any other colour! Long live green.
Got urban Decay Cult on today on some fingers. Plus Nubar Reclaim plus GOSH Green Hawaii.

  14. Sarie says:

Love this colour but annoyingly they don’t ship to the UK!:(

  15. Rachel says:

I am over this color for now. I have about 6 mints, and they were all a lot cheaper than $14! That bottle looks tiny.

  16. All Lacquered Up says:

People say Peppermint Patti and Barry M Mint Green are dupes but I don’t agree. I think they are very close but not identical. So Minty is more blue than PP

  17. evebabitz says:

just got some from thebeautycloset.com shipped out of the u.s.
    love minty!
