Talk about ending the week on a high note. After a week of major back pain I wake this morning to find that I’m in this month’s WWD Beauty Biz!!!

WWD is the leading trade publication for the Fashion and Beauty Retail industry. Once a month they publish an issue dedicated to what’s happening in the beauty world. A couple months ago one of their writers, Rachel Brown, interviewed me about my collaboration with Barielle and my Rescue Beauty Lounge shade and here’s the final result. Can you even?? I’m over the moon!

In case you can’t view the image, here is the full article text:

The relationship between beauty brands and bloggers is getting even cozier. Barielle has collaborated with Michelle Mismas, an accountant from Cleveland, on a fall nail polish collection named for her blog, All Lacquered Up. Working with Barielle creative director Elle Gerstein, Mismas helped translate colors from the runway into lacquers that would resonate with her polish enthusiast fan base—a slate blue Reem Acra dress was the inspiration for the grayish blue Slate of Affairs, for example.

For Ji Baek’s fall collection, the Rescue Beauty Lounge founder teamed up with the bloggers behind Scrangie on a purple with green shimmer, Polish Addict on a grayish dark green and All Lacquered Up on a deep purple. “They really wanted something they can’t have,” says Baek. “It shows you what is missing in the market.” Lest the bloggers get carried away, Gerstein cautions that their power only goes so far. “The celebrity thing is much bigger,” she stresses. —RACHEL BROWN

Michelle — you are a little star making cleveland shine!

congrats. feel free to pass any samples over to me if you get tired of any colors.

Congratulations! It's so nice to see you getting accolades for all the work you put into your blog. I'm sure we will be seeing your name in print more often!

  9. Helen (Nice Things) says:

    How great! Congratulations!
And you three are all celebrities to me anyway!

  10. wixology says:

    Congrats, Michelle!
I totally agree with Helen- you guys are the celebrities in our world…=]

(Anybody else think it was an odd way to end an otherwise upbeat article? As though mere bloggers might get too full of themselves after collaborating on a few polish colors…whatever.)

Keep up the good work, Michelle!

You speak for the rest of us, who don't necessarily subscribe to "the celebrity thing."

  11. janice says:

congratulations, and how fun! i love the colors.

and i agree with wixology–what a weird/rude(?) thing to say about the blogger collaborations.

  12. Lucy says:

Michelle, you and the other bloggers are our celebrities. That person was a total bitch. What is her problem?

  13. Jennifer says:

Gah, the last part of the article was horrible! Lest the bloggers get carried away? Please! The celebrity "thing" just isn't for me and I'm sure I'm not alone. Besides, I can't really think of any celebrities that have been asked to help create an entire nail polish collection or come up with their own unique colors. That says something about Blogger power!!

  14. Megan says:

I thought I was the only one that was a little put off by the last comment. Not just the writer's words, but also the little blurb by Elle. Just rubbed me the wrong way, I guess.

  15. Caramel Diva says:

wow congrats you deserve it…you work so hard

  16. cewek says:

    Congrats Michelle!

I agree with the other comments re: the last sentence of the article. V. snarky/bitchy way to end an otherwise positive story.

  17. oneofeight says:

The article was fine till the last quote. It sounded like the person was trying to reassure the celebrity industry that the bloggers are still nobodys and celebrities are the only people that really count.

  18. Miss Yaya says:

proud of you – and agree with the comments – the ending is surely a bit odd on the article

  19. All Lacquered Up says:

You guys please don't hold this article against Elle. Her words were twisted to make the author's point. Elle had the insight to want to collaborate with a blogger. She came to me. She wanted to work with me. She wouldn't have done that just to turn around and make a comment that basically puts bloggers in their place. She's my friend and she wouldn't purposely knock what we did together.

While it's disappointing the way the article ended lets focus on the positive. It's huge for the blogging community in general and very exciting for me personally. I never thought there would be a day when I would see my name in WWD so I will rejoice in that.

  20. wixology says:

    Michelle-
You are a much bigger person than I.

You have worked hard to get where you are and are deserving of the attention.
Those of us "riding on your coattails" are grateful, but also very protective of fellow bloggers.

It was just a weird twist that could have been left off the end. (Personally, I think the author was just jealous. I know I am!)

All that having been said, I have moved on and placed an order on Barielle's website, so it's just "polish under the bridge."

    Again, Congratulations! =D
