COSMOPROF Day 2 Recap

Fanatics, Vegas can really suck the life out of you. I returned on Tuesday and slept for almost the next 24 hours after. I woke long enough for the boyfriend to drag me to dinner and that was about it. So now that I’m recouped and somewhat back on track, here are the highlights from Day 2 at Cosmoprof.

I’m sure my fellow China Glaze fans will be uber-excited by what I have to show you. Lots of great goodies are on the way from one of my fave brands. Let’s take a lookie loo, shall we?

We started our day attending an education class for brands on how to retail their products online. Beth Mayall, Editor In Chief of TotalBeauty.com, was speaking on the tools brands can use to gain online exposure including blogs, like ALU.
Next stop was the Entity Beauty booth. I’ve seen Entity’s products on TransDesign.com but I haven’t tried them before. I couldn’t help but be drawn to their sleek bottles and fun colors. So far they only have the two color collections and a set of french mani colors but if these do well, they may release more in the future. Any Entity fans in the house??

Of course, my trip wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the AII Beauty booth, parent company of China Glaze. I met up with my pal Anne to check out what’s coming next from the fanatic fave.

Created for the Japanese market, China Glaze is releasing a set of 50 glitters/chromes in mini sized bottles here in the US. There are sparklers in a range of shades and glitter sizes. There’s a pink glitter that reminds me of Good Witch? on crack. ***Edited to add: Apparently the minis won’t be available here, the glitters will be full size in the US.***

Instead of jumping on the matte bandwagon, which is sure to burn out, China Glaze is launching a set of Fall metallics called Khrome. Think, Romantiques in shades more appropriate for the season. Though I’m told they are much less streaky than the Romantiques. Yay for that!!

Folloing Khrome comes the return of Emerald Sparkle for Holiday. This time it’s being packaged with a new gold glass flecked polish, 5 Golden Rings, in addition to Tinsel and Ruby Pumps from last year’s Sleigh Ride collection.
Dark Secrets is this year’s Winter collection and I’m so drooling over the purple, teal and gray. I can’t WAIT to try them out.
And as my Twitter followers know… the Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection is making a triumphant return. A long, long time ago I sent swatches of my original WOOA polishes to China Glaze to help them recreate the collection. It was originally slated to release this year but was pushed back to Spring 2010. It’s been so hard keeping my yap shut on this one. I know news of it leaked a bit on MUA but nothing had been publicly confirmed until now. So those of you who have been lemming Dorothy Who?, Good Witch?, C-c-courage, Cowardly Lyin’ and The Tan Man, your wait will soon be over. Can you even contain your excitement??

Now I wish I could show you pictures of what Essie and OPI have cooked up but they keep their polishes under lock and key away from spying eyes and cameras. With so many manufacturers in one place, all competeing for our attention, is it any wonder?

We finished our day at the show with a lovely relaxing dinner at Zeffirino in the Venetian. Being that my red eye flight home was already delayed and time was on my side, we decided to indulge ourselves. We had a gorgeous view from our table of the Canal Shoppes and gondolas below as we dined on delicious fish (all of us went the fish route) and yummy wine. We even witnessed a couple getting engaged on a gondola. How sweet!
And what dinner is complete without a decadent dessert? We all tried something different so we could share. Mine was the pyramid shaped confection. It was a cappuccino creme covered in a creme brulee-esque toasted chocolate shell with raspberry sauce. Perfection! Though the pear filled, caramel covered creme and cannoli were delicious as well.

It’s a shame drama with my plane’s auxillary power had to ruin the night but it didn’t wreck my trip. I had an absolute blast with my fellow blogger Phyllis and the ladies from Total Beauty. It was great getting to see some of my blogging pals and my fave nail brands. I’m already counting down to Cosmoprof 2010!

btw, Phyllis has some pics of the CND Colour & Effects polishes she brought home on her blog. Check them out!

Holy Glitter Michelle! wow, it's a lot.

From the krome colors, I think I like the grey one the most.

I'm still not over the matte look yet. Not yet.

  7. peaches1111_00 says:

I wish China Glaze would release some mini bottles. There's soooo many colors I'd love to try but don't want to waste a whole bottle. And I don't paint my nails that often to need bunches and bunches of regular-sized bottles.

  8. Regine says:

Oh I'd love to get my hands on many of the coming China Glaze's bottles. It's really a shame China Glaze won't be sold to us Scandinavians anymore. :(:(

  9. rosarita says:

China Glaze, you're absolutely killing it! You make me a happy girl :) Soo excited for the rerelease of the Christmas (with gold edition) and Ooh Ahhz.. those glitters are absolutely gorgeous. China Glaze really fits to my aesthetic, I don't like mattes, I'm so glad that they're not releasing any mattes (not a matte lover, sorry). You guys are warding me off from other brands… seems like I'll have nothing but China Glaze goodness in these following collections.

  11. Lina-Elvira says:

Michelle!!! It's almost too much. That Dark Secrets collex is up my alley, and I'm gonna have to collect at least part of Wizard of Aahs, or they'd revoke my MUA card. :) Thanks for the great work!

  21. Cali369 says:

I know what you mean about Vegas. I've been there a few times on conferences (nothing as exciting as CosmoProf) and boy are you glad to be heading home at the end!

Exciting news about ChG re-releasing the Wizard collection – really looking forward to seeing Dorothy Who in person!

  22. Mc Huggs :) says:

    Hi Michelle:

You must be exhausted and I can just imagine how busy you will be showing the newest CG swatches. There is so much here, CG's Dark Secrets and Entity. Plus, fifty glitters, chromes and metallics in mini sizes? Amazing and all available at Sally's.

The Wizard of Ooh Oz collections looks cute and the pictures of the Gondola boat and rich and creamy deserts look absolutely delicious. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. Have a superb weekend.

    ((((((Love Michelle))))))

    Mc Huggs :)

  23. Rachel says:

The glitters! I'm dying! China Glaze has officially won me over, I love you :)

  24. All Lacquered Up says:

DarlinAnna – I'm with you! Glitter me timbers, I was in sparkle heaven.

Lori – Me too! I want them all NOW

Edelmc – Full size will be here. I think those were just for display purposes

cbh02bb – You're welcome. There's a reason I love China Glaze so much. They just keep knocking it out of the park.

Melsh – That's what I thought when I saw them. I just hope they apply well

Allison M – I hear ya. I'm still digging the matte thing too but with so many brands copycatting and doing mattes, it's nice to see at least one brand doing something different.

Peaches1111_00 – I agree. I love mini bottles. That would seriously help my growing collection from taking over my house.

Regine – It won't? Why not? Have you asked any of the US e-tailers about shipping to you? I know a lot of girls do that.

Rosarita – I can't wait to show them all to you

Anon – Killing it indeed!!! You can never have enough China Glaze.

Lina-Elvira – I've been giddy with anticipation for the WOOA re-release

Danica – Yep, they're all coming to the US. I hope they'll all be carried at Sally's

AshleyDanielle – I know, right? Too many polishes, not enough fingers.

Csara718 – They are awesome. Great stuff coming down the pike

Moonchaii – I was happy to see that too. Emerald Sparkle should be a perm color in my opinion.

The Princess – You should! IT's a fun show. So much to see

Duffi McDermott – I plan to put the whole set away so that I never have to worry about hunting them down again.

Stef – Yay! I'm so glad. I never thought a Sally card was a good buy until they started carrying China Glaze

Anon – There are a couple pink glitters. One is more opaque with mini sparkles, one is more bright pink with medium size glitter and then one is more rosey with big ole hunks of glitz. Very cool!

Anon – I don't have a release date but when I do, I'll let you know

Cali369 – I knew I'd be tired coming home but WOW I didn't expect to be so wiped out. I could still use more sleep.

McHuggs – thanks for the kind words George. Have a great weekend!

Rachel – They hadn't won you over already? Well I'm glad they finally did. I'm still in wow.

    Hello Michelle

I haven't posted comments very often here but I'm a faithful reader and of course fellow nailpolish addict ^_^

First of all thanks for the cosmoprof recaps: you gave us so much information about the upcoming collection, it's very exciting!

From what I have read on different occasions you seem to be able to get in touch with people at China Glaze and even AII. I have a huge favor to ask you: over the last days word has began to spread on various blogs and forums in Europe that we (being overseas customers) won't be allowed to buy AII products (including China Glaze) from online e-tailers anymore. Many orders have already been cancelled at Head2toe, and by the look of it Transdesign and 8Ty8 are likely to follow lead soon.
It is very bad news for foreign nailpolish addicts and European ones particularly as from what I know China Glaze doesn't have any distributor here.
I have been sending emails to AII and China Glaze's customer service but have been ignored so far. Perhaps if you asked them they would actually answer and at least tell us why they have decided to prevent us from buying their products. Are they going to open their own online store? Or perhaps they're going to actually have stores sell their products in Europe? Then it wouldn't be such a bad news.
    Thanks in advance
