Michelle #1 - Seche Vite is known to pull back from the tips after a couple days of wear, the message board girls have termed this "shrinkage" It's not actual tip wear but more that the top coat pull back. It seems to happen more with certain base coats than others and I know that one way they've found to resolve it is to put a regular top coat on before applying Seche Vite. Why it works is beyond me.

Michelle #2 - Natalie's suggestion of Quick & Slick is great as I've recently become a fan myself. My guess is that something is happening with the Essie & Seche formulas to cause such fast peeling. My suggestion would be to use a non-quick dry top coat like CND Super Shiney. It takes a little longer to dry but will probably adhere better.

Oh and I got my Quick & Slick at a local salon so try contacting Olan at 800.645.1616 to see if they can locate a salon that carries their products.

I'm really pressed for time right now, because I'm leaving for Spain on Tuesday and only have a couple days with which to purchase this item. Do you know if I can get it at a beauty supply store or does it have to be ordered on-line?

I love Jude! I see her everywhere in the makeup/beauty communities, and she is always one of the best contributors. Whenever I see her posting or doing a look, I always know it is going to be worth paying attention to.

Try using Quick & Slick top coat. I've been using it forever- It really lasts without peeling or chipping. I use it over my color polish but you can also use it alone for a really glossy finish!

Try using Quick & Slick top coat- by Olan Labs. I've been using it forever and it lasts a full week! I use it over my color polish or just as a clear coat by itself– it is terrific.

Hi Michelle,

My name is also Michelle, and I love your blog! I'm hoping you can help me with a problem I've been experiencing for awhile now, and need really fast assistance on before I leave for Spain on the 16th of this month:

I really prefer to wear clear nail color on my finger nails. I usually use the Essy Firstbase Base Coat, and then Seche Vite fast dry top coat, but for the life of me, it won't stay on for more than two days - I kid you. I put it on Friday afternoon, and by Saturday night, no kidding it's already chipping and peeling..What gives? Should I be doing something else? I figured I would wear clear to Spain so I wouldn't have to worry about touch-up's but now, I'm not so sure..please help me!!!
