New Nail Paints from Barry M

You know what I love about Barry M’s Nail Paints? The names! I LU-ove the simplicity of their naming system. Tangerine, Racing Green, Red Wine, Orchid, etc. Don’t get me wrong; fun, tongue-in-cheek names are great too but when I have to rack my brain to remember what the actual polish color is because the cutesy name has nothing to do with the color, it’s frustrating. There’s nothing hard in remembering Coral.

So recently Barry M released some new Nail Paint shades; Mint Green, Bright Purple, Fuchsia, Block Orange, Acid Yellow. After hearing about Mint Green being a dupe for one of the season’s must-have but sold out shades, MAC Peppermint Patti, I had to see for myself. Check it out, along with Bright Purple and Cyan Blue, after the jump!

As I said the last time I reviewed Barry M, the formula is thick with pigment but it flows evenly on the nail. Mint Green did need a third coat but the others were perfect in two.

Mint Green isn’t a dead on MAC P.P. dupe but it’s close enough that you’d have be looking for the differences to notice. For me, it’s actually better than P.P. because of the formula. Mint Green applies like a dream which makes it the winner in my book.

I went looking for an existing polish that’s even remotely close and came up empty handed. If you took China Glaze Aqua baby and added a bit of white and a drop or two of blue, like OPI Just Groovy, you may come close. To make a long story short, I LOVE IT!
Bright Purple is a vivid, Barney-esque hue, only without the annoying songs and children following it around. It’s uber glossy, perfect for summer toes and a great addition to my collection.

Nail Paints by Barry M retail for £2.95 and can be purchased online directly from BarryM.com. The £8 US Shipping charge is a bit prohibitive but get a group order going or save up for a major haul and it’s worth it. Trust!

Have any of you tried Barry M since I first reviewed them? What do you think?

Ohh, I’m loving that Mint Green. I actually managed to pick up the last 2 bottles of MAC Peppermint Patti a few weeks ago at my local store — but I was SHOCKED to see how terrible the application was!. I tried everything and still couldn’t get a good streakless opaque in less then 4 coats.

I ADORED the colour though, sadly it truly is one of a kind.

But if Barry M is definitely similar with a better application, I just may have to tack it up on my wish list. :)

Wow.. SO looking into those. Guess what I found?? Sally Hansen Salon 2009 collection! I got Honeydew. Have you ever tried MAC Dark Angel? Its a vampy purple. I’m wearing it right now and I luv it!!

Luckily living in the UK means I can pop along to any high street and pick these up.

I have about ten – all the neons (amazingly hard wearing).

Cyan blue is fab – practically a one-coater as well.

I haven’t tried Mint Green yet but I think after hearing that it’s a dupe for the elusive PP, I think I’ll be breaking it out soon!

Thankyou for this post – glad a budget UK high street brand is making waves over the pond!

I bought the mint green yesterday :)
As well as a silver one, because they’re on 2 for £5 in Superdrug.

I’ve been waiting for the new colours for a while. I saw them on their website, but Superdrug have only just got them in.

I LOVE Barry M colors! I have a U.K. friend that is kind enough to help me out in getting them. I actually passed on MAC PP after I got Mint Green. :-)

SO glad you posted about Parry M again and specifically Mint green. I was in London a month ago and I looked at Mint Green while wearing Peppermint Patty and they were SO close that I decided against buying MG despite the good price. However i’ve been wearing PP non stop so when my bottle runs low I’ll definitely pick up the Barry M as a sunstitute.

OK, ordered mint green as well as other colors 4 days ago and my order is still awaiting despatch…

I swatched PP 2 weeks ago and loved the color but the consistency was horrible… it was streaky and hard to apply properly.

    Hi!
The Barney-esque (LOL!) one looks amazing! I am crazy for glossy creamy nail polishes (hate metallic or glittery ones).

Could I request a comparison between Barry M shades
    - Bright Purple (#303)
    - (New) Fuchsia (#302)
    - Shocking Pink (#272)

    Thanks in advance

Mint Green looks great. I'm wondering if there's a big difference between Mint and Spring Green.

I have tried a few Barry M nail paints (live in Ireland where they are available in a few places), I love the colours and the application but the only think I'll say against them is WHOA they stain – make sure to use 2 coats of basecoat!
