Kicking Off Finger Paints Week

I am officially declaring this first full week of May Finger Paints Week. Why? Because I can. You see Finger Paints recently introduced 16 new shades to their permanent collection and instead of reviewing them all at once, which would be a LOT of work, I’ll be sharing a few of them with you each day this week.First up, the blues and purples. Check them out after the jump!

I’m on a Finger Paints roll lately, huh? My love affair with Finger Paints has resurfaced and it’s been like reconnecting with an old friend. It’s like no time has passed and you wonder how you ever let this beautiful friendship fade. Well fear not my pal FP, we’re so besties again.

You’ve heard me rave about the smooth silky FP formula, how evenly it applies and these shades are no different. They did require three thin coats to achieve opacity but it’s a small price to pay for color this fab and affordable.

It’s An Original is what I expected (hoped) Chanel Vendetta to look like. A deep rich purple with a hint of shimmer. It leans a bit blue, definitely cool based.

Lavender Highlight is a lavender I can get behind. Most of you know my issues with light lilac and lavender. Love them in the bottle, hate them on me. This color is fills that void in my stash yet it’s dark enough to prevent me from looking alien. LOVE IT!

Art Dealer Teal-er is the greener cousin of FP Sunburst Summer shade, Turquoise Tile. Very similar in finish and feel. It’s as though a few drops of jade fell in a vat of Turquoise Tile and the brains at FP went with it.

Artistic Azure is a shimmery persian blue that has a slight sandwashed feel. Its base is a very vibrant and electric blue that calms to a deeper hue with added layers.
All of these new Finger Paints shades are available now at Sally Beauty Supply and SallyBeauty.com. Though before you head out to the store, make sure you visit the SallyBeauty.com site to print off your Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon (exp 5/31/09). And stay tuned as Finger Paints week continues.

Thank you for reviewing these. I’ve never picked up any FP since none of the colors really called out to me, and I didn’t know anything about the formula having never seen them reviewed before. I will have to pick up a few next time I’m in Sally’s!

Love the look of finger paints, but again they’re unavailable in Europe, to the point where you can’t even get them on evilbay :(

Do you know any etailers that stock them? The new colours look awesome.

  3. Linda says:

You should have heard me during reading that post. I was all like “Ohh!” “Uuuh!” “Want it!!”

Lavender Highlight and Art Dealer Teal-er are right up my alley! Do you know where I can get them with international shipping?

  4. Mia says:

That green! I must have it!!!

  5. All Lacquered Up says:

Anon – Oh yes, they’re worth the trip. Don’t forget the coupon!

Laure – Unfortunately Finger Paints is owned by Sally Beauty Supply so they’re only carried in their stores. :(

Is It’s An Original dupey to anything? It looks familiar but I can’t put my finger on it.

  7. Lina-Elvira says:

Oh I really like these! :) We don’t get these in Britain, as usual with funky cosmetics lines…

  8. melsh says:

It’s An Original is it similar to grape crush?

they are all very pretty on you!

  9. Lackoholic says:

    OMG Yay!
I just mentioned you in my blog the other day, about how you’re one of the few people to review Finger Paints! I swear it’s so hard to find out anything about them online!
    I love It’s an Original.
I started really loving their colors last summer with Coral Compliment, and Easel Come Easel Go.

I’m so happy you’re doing a segment on them!

Their website really needs to be updated and they really need more PR. They’re such an underrated brand but I love them :)

Currently I’ve got Turquoise Tile on the majority of my fingers. My ring fingers are 1/2 Cherry Ices and 1/2 Strawberry Shake. They’re such happy fun colors!

  11. Orli says:

    oh i love them!

  12. augusta says:

  13. Bea says:

Do you know how FP Art Dealer Teal-er, Turquoise Tile and SH Honeydew all compare? They seem to be in the same family!

  14. karen says:

omgggg i love them all but i can live without the teal… thanks for the coupon link!

  15. Debbie says:

Like the other comments from people here in the UK we do seem to miss out on the best the world of nail polish has to offer. Read a few posts about GOSH recently (the Superdrug own brand of cosmetics) and yesterday bought Holographic and Golden Dragon and there were a much better range of colours here than I usually find in Boots so worth a look if you are in the UK and after something different, but if anyone finds NYX Jungle in the UK please let me know!

  16. Rachel says:

It’s an original is the first Finger Paints polish I ever bought (Which was like 2 months ago)! I love it. Lavender Highlight is beautiful but I skipped it because I already have China Glaze Spontaneous , and they’re almost identical.

  17. George says:

Hi Michelle: Thank you for doing this with Sally’s FP. There’s a Sally’s in the next town! I wonder if you wouldn’t mind doing a swatch request Monday on FP Artistic Azure and Essie’s Mesmerize. The Azure looks gorgeous!
I love them all, my fav is Channel Vendetta and that electric blue color! Also, Lavender Highlight looks allot like Sephora by OPI’s, “Don’t Go There.” The link for the coupon is great, I even love the Turquoise Tile, it’s so beautiful and you present these swatches so amazingly with your geogeous and beautiful manicured nails. Kudos.

  18. Diana says:

I bought It’s An Original and Artistic Azure last time I was at Sally’s. They’re gorgeous.

  19. Drama queens mum says:

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of them (I never go in Sallys), but I love the colors. I’ll have to get some.
