Celebrity Nail Watch – The Cast of Glee

It’s UpFronts week in NYC, one of my favorite times of the TV season. It’s when the networks reveal their fall lineups and I love hearing about all the new shows and I cross my fingers for ones I hope survive (Privileged!).

Usually we have to wait until September to see any of the much hyped new shows but Fox has put a twist on that with tonight’s post-Idol premiere of Glee. My inner band/drama/musical theater geek hasn’t been this hyped over a show in I don’t know how long. I’m a huge Nip/Tuck fan so tell me Ryan Murphy is involved and I’m ON BOARD. Plus I’ve been dying for Jane Lynch to finally have a recurring role on one of the Big 4 networks. The woman is comedy personified. Did anyone else watch Lovespring International on Lifetime? Well, how bout Best In Show? Party Down on Starz? I’m telling you, the woman is HIGH-larious!

Anywho, the cast of Glee has been on red carpets all over L.A. and New York promoting the show and typical me, I’ve been doing some nail watching. Check out the casts tips after the jump!

Jenna Ushkowitz (far left) appears to be the nail chameleon of the group, changing her look for each event (see below). Her soft white tips play well against her striking blue dress while Lea Michele (far right) went dark and vampy. Also pictured (l-r) Naya Rivera and Dianna Agron.
I’m not sure if Naya Rivera is channeling her character (since we haven’t met her yet) or just rocking an “edgy” look but it doesn’t quite fit with her sweet, beautiful face and Pantene-commercial-worthy locks.
I can already tell that Jenna Ushkowitz and I will get along famously. Yes, in my head, we’re totally BFFs. The girl loves a blue nail, how could I not adore?

CHARLIE!!! I can’t look at Jayma Mays and not think Charlie. She was Charlie on both Heroes and Ugly Betty so I don’t know WHAT Ryan Murphy was thinking by naming her character Emma. Has he not paid attention? Her name is Charlie! Regardless, I’m loving the blue/gray ensemble and that she’s a redhead who isn’t afraid to wear red tips. Rock it Charlie!

Whether she’s calling Christian “asshole” on Nip/Tuck or setting things on fire on Heroes or walking the halls of Boston Public in re-run land, wherever Jessalyn Gilsig goes, I will follow. I get excited whenever she pops on screen even if it’s just a few eps of my beloved Friday Night Lights.

As I recently told Andrea from Glamour for her weekly beauty tips newsletter, pairing bright nails with neutral outfits, like white, cream or tan is so fresh this summer. It’s a much cheaper accessory than a pair of hot pink shoes or a bright green clutch that you might not use once fall rolls around.

White nails seem to be EVERYWHERE lately. More so than hot pink or teal or any other bright. Let’s face it, white goes with everything. It can be mod, chic or edgy depending on how you accessorize it. Cast members Dianna Agron (left) and Lea Michele (right) are perfect examples of how white can work to match or compliment your ensemble.

So who’s tuning in tonight? Anyone else as jazzed as I am? My Tivo is all set, is yours?

Oh I’ve been waiting for this show ever since I saw the first commercial on hulu.com when I was catching up on episodes of Dollhouse way back in February! How can you not love a show that has a glee club singing a Journey song?? :)

  2. candita says:

So excited for Glee! Not only are good summer shows hard to come by, but Lea Michele was the original Wendla in Spring Awakening and I fell in love with her voice back then! Can’t wait!

  3. candita says:

I just realized Glee is a FALL show, so you can ignore that part of my comment… but either way, I loved it, though I’m extremely annoyed that my DVR stopped recording before it was over!

  4. Jennifer says:

thanks so much for posting! i love lea michele, loved her in the Broadway musical “Spring Awakening”, glad to know she’s a nail polish-o-phile as well :)

This is on the same time as Reaper on the CW, so I watched Reaper last night. But I will catch Glee as soon as possible online.

Just FYI Michelle, (sadly) Privleged did not make the cut for next year according to zap2it.com.

Sara – I know, right? I LOVED the premiere and am so excited to watch it next season.

Candita – I didn’t realize she was in Spring Awakening. Her voice is amazing.

Jennifer – Did you watch last night? Thankfully I taped the local news in case it ran over. Stupid Fox never being on time!

Anon – I know :( It’s so sad. The creator tweeted about it yesterday afternoon. Such a shame.

They had an ad at the end of the show saying the premiere will be online all summer so you didn’t miss a thing. :)

  7. Casey says:

I loved the show last night. I am thinking of doing a red mani in honor of the final number!

  8. sara says:

I should probably be embarrassed to say this, but I ended up watching last night and 3 times today. LOVED IT!! I can’t WAIT for the fall season to start! :)

  9. Courtney says:

I wish I could pull off white. Maybe I need an off white. It just looks like I played with White Out. Ugh.

I'm from France but thanks Internet I watched the first episode of GLEE. And that's AWESOME. Specialy the Journey's song part but that can't be fair because I'm a huge fan of this band and more of this song.
It's remains me of "Freaks & Geeks", but also of "Pushing Daisies". Let's hope GLEE will be luckier than its predecessors… Fingers crossed!!!
As soon as I discovered the show, I talked to my blog. GO GLEE!!!
