China Glaze Kicks Collection – Part 2

Does anyone else remember when Tretorn tennis shoes were all the rage? Better yet, do you remember Tretorns period or did I totally just date myself? Maybe it was just my school but for a second, it was all about what color Tretorns you had. I distinctly remember a green plaid pair I owned.

Anywho, the reason I bring this up is that the more I look at the China Glaze Kicks collection, the more it reminds me of Tretorns. Every single shade would make a perfect accent color on a pair of their white sneaks. BT-Dub, Zappos.com sells Tretorns and now I’m all nostalgic, wanting a white/green pair (pictured).

Getting back to the polish, the 2nd half of the collection introduces four cremes and two shimmers to the Kicks party. See them all, after the jump.

B-Girlz is a hot, Barbie (could that be the “B” in B-Girlz?) pink shimmer. It’s totally Barbie’s pink convertible bottled.

Laced Up is Hubba Bubba hued creme that applies extremely even for such a light color. Normally I get drag at the cuticles with lighter cremes but Laced Up applied beautifully.

Sneaker Head has this sunwashed look to it. It’s a deep, baked berry red. Rich and luscious.

Oh How Street It Is can best be described as a burnt red-orange creme. Like that dark hue of orange flavored jelly candy.

Style Wars is a deep mango creme. I know when I previewed these shades on nail art wheels, that Styel Wars and Oh How Street It Is looked very similar. As you can see, on the nail, Style Wars is less red based and lighter.

I hear Breakin‘ and I’m compelled to say “Electric Boogaloo” before I look to see if Turbo is breakdancing on my ceiling. Anyone? Bueller? Well this Breakin’ may not spawn a sequel but it certainly has a fan base, me! This shimmery baby is pure concentrated OJ. LOVE!

The Kicks collection hits shelves at the end of April. You can order them online at Head2ToeBeauty.com, 8ty8Beauty.com or TransDesign.com or look for them in stores at Sally Beauty or ULTA.

You are so right- China Glaze is amaaaaaazing right now!!! I just bought the entire Summer Days collection, and now I am needing about half of this one too!!
I used to really love OPI, but CG is by far my favorite these days!!!! Their colors are much more interesting!

I am embarassed to admit it – but yes, I did see Breakin’ in the theatres. And I did have Tretorns – mine had the teal green. I just so totally dated myself, lol!! (yes, the use of “totally” is intentional)

Oh I loved and still love Tretorns. They were never big where I am though. They were bit easier to get to get and not too expensive about 10-15 years ago. I hoarded what I had and so still have some in good shape.

I can’t believe how much they cost now. I never paid more than 25.00 and usually less at some off price store.
Last year Marshalls had a pair for 15 and I grabbed them. Not the normal Nylite ones but nice all the same.

I do miss those plaid ones too.

    Great post :)

Hope the vacay is going well.

*dies* Must have them all! Btw, aren’t you supposed to be on vacay? Impressive updating! =)

I love Breakin! I don’t love the sequel as much, but I totally know what you are talking about and I love it. I actually watched it a few weeks ago with my 12 year old nephew.

I hope you enjoy the cruise!

Wow!! China Glaze has been on fire this year. They just keep on bringing it. I see at least four shades that I want.

These are already on sale at 8ty8beauty.com!! I just ordered the whole collection. Dam you China Glaze, dam you and all your pretty colors!

  8. Phyrra says:

I think this is a really cool collection. I’m surprised by the number of pinks and oranges. I wish that dark orange was a glitter or glass flecked shade though!

  9. Grace Waste says:

I think that the “B” in B-girlz stands for “break.” B-girls are girls who break dance :)

I loved Tretorns – - the plaids were my favorite.

    This is a great blog!

I like this collection, but I think there are too many pinks. They could have put in another purple and maybe a yellow to round it out.

Of course, I did give in and buy the whole collection :)

Does Laced Up resemble Mom’s Chiffon? I missed out on that one…
