The ALU Archives – Sinful Show Me The Way

The ALU Archives focuses on older, beloved shades from the All Lacquered Up stash.

This week, we continue on with the Archives’ green theme for March. It’s been so incredibly beautiful and warm here in the Cleveburg and I noticed some of the ten billion daffodils in our yard starting to pop up. The previous owners were major green thumbs. The boyfriend and I, not so much. However, the new growth inspired me to look for a grassy green. That brought me to drugstore fave Sinful Colors Show Me The Way.

I seriously don’t write about Sinful enough. It’s such an underrated brand. They have a wide color range with some outstanding greens and blues and if you’re looking for a cheap, glossy jet black for frankening or just to wear, you can’t beat their Black On Black creme.

Show Me The Way is a mossy, yellow tinged, metallic looking sparkler. The formula is semi-sheer with a jelly-ish feel that requires three coats. What I love is that the specks of micro-glitter float in the polish so you get a completely smooth finish, similar to the China Glaze glass flecked formula. Also, it prevents the metallic nature of the gold shimmer from leaving brush strokes on the nails. Basically, it’s pretty damn fab.

Sinful Colors polishes retail for $1.99 and are carried at a number of drugstores but I have the best luck in my area at Walgreens and Discount Drug Mart. At Walgreens, the display is typically on fragrance counter. According to the Sinful Colors website their products are also carried at Eckerd, Longs, Meijer, Safeway and number of other regional chains.

OK raise your hands kids. Where are my Sinful lovers? What’s your favorite shade?

I only have two, but my favorite of them is San Francisco =)

I have probably about 40 sinfuls. I love them. I think they get a bad rap too. About the only complaint I have with them, is some of the colors look opaque in the bottle, but come out sheer on the nails. It happens with all brands, but I come across it more often with Sinfuls. I still heart them though!

I even made a dozen roses out of sinful nail polish I gave away as a contest for V-Day on my blog. I love the Sinfuls :)

I only recently came across these (I’ve only ever seen them at Walgreens) but for $1.99 they’re pretty nice! I like a highly pigmented polish, so I put on a lot of coats, but that doesn’t bother me too much when I’m buying them so cheap.

I actually brought some with me to work today so I could do my nails during my lunch break! Not so much going out to lunch anymore so I can save some money and this helps fill the hour.

I’ve only got San Fransisco. :) I’ve been meaning to buy some more though.

omg I just bought that one but haven’t tried it yet. I’m so glad to see that it is a good polish that you like! Thank you!

I’ve had a lot of fun wearing Sinful Colors. They make the most wonderful purple jelly – Daddy’s Girl or something to that effect.

On the topic of greens – I picked up Peppermint Patti from the MAC Sugarsweet collection yesterday and ooooooh, have you played with this yet? It is definitely a 3-coater for me and I totally see your complaints about the formula but I’m so very in love with this color.

I was just in Walgreen yesterday and found this brand and got the same green (I’ve been in a green kick becaues of your blog)! The color looks really pretty and they are so cheap!!

I love to buy these at Walgreens when they are buy 1, get one free!
I stock up. I have 3 daughters and we have quite a collection between us. These really aren’t bad at all considering the price.

So funny you just wrote about these colors! I needed a deep emerald green and found this brand at meijer. The color was more sheer than expected and took a few coats, but I got tons of comments on my festive Mani for St. Paddys day!

I love Sinful Colors! That is pretty. I just realized that my sister had this exact color back in the day.! Like ten plus years ago. I just never realized it was the same brand.

I have 8 Sinful’s now, I think. I love Daddy’s Girl and Pearl harbor. Pearl Harbor is fabulous for dressing up other colors. :) Thanks for giving Sinful some love! I never hear about them enough. Oh, and I just had Show Me the Way on my nails this past weekend!

I own Merlot and San Francisco. I bought the two together and skittle-ed my nails for Christmas. =D San Francisco was also great for St. Patty’s. As a New Yorker, I can only find these at Duane Reades.
