I hate Valentine’s Day! Hate, hate, hate it. To those of you that love it, enjoy it, celebrate it, don your best pink & red… that’s great. Me, not so much. I’m not a big holiday person to begin with but one that puts so much pressure on couples to make grand romantic gestures and singles to not be alone just doesn’t do it for me. In fact, when I first started dating the boyfriend I told him that a. I never want him to buy me flowers (waste of money & they die) and b. that I NEVER want to celebrate V-day. Call me an unromantic cynic, that’s fine.

So instead of being all sweet and girly with a pink or crimson nail, I decided to pull out one of my fave black/gunmetal polishes, Misa Wishing On A Star.

Note: I bought Wishing On A Star when the Dance Fever collection was first released so my bottle contains the old Misa formula. They have since gone Big 3 Free but not all of the shades have been transitioned. Be sure to check your bottle or ask the retailer before purchasing if you are concerned about the chemicals.

What I love most about Wishing On A Star is the micro-shimmer. Instead of just pumping a lot of silver glitter in a black base, there are randomly dispersed burgundy and green specks to add character. The finish is actually very similar to Dior Black Diamonds, it’s just not as inky black.

Ha Ha…I am so with you on the whole “Anti-Valentine” thing, so much so that my boyfriend and I are having an “Anti-Valentine’s Gathering” this V-day for all our friends to celebrate the anti with us.

May you be there in spirit ;-)

I like this color, I´m in a dark color kick lately, and no, you´re not unromantic nor cynic for not wanting to “celebrate” V day… people who wear pink and red really get on my nerves to be honest, I´ve never celebrated it either.

I just received Zoya Irene in the mail today. I think I’ll be wearing that this weekend. I’m neutral about V-Day. It can be fun, but I think it’s the most exploited holiday.

I usually don’t like valentine’s day because it’s my dad’s birthday. But I will celebrate if I feel like I want to with my hubby just because it’s good to be reminded that we still care about each other. As for my mani on v-day… I totally have no idea what I’ll be doing. But for the record, I don’t see gray or black as a anti-valentine’s day mani. Both colors go with anything valentine-like.

I don’t mind Valentine’s Day, but I have a 1st grader so Valentine’s Day is all about Valentine cards and candy! I hate red and pink nail polish, I try to wear those colors and they just aren’t me! Right now I’m wearing Metro Chic, but I may go red or hot hot pink for Valentine’s Day.

My favorite black polish is Black Diamond by China Glaze. It’s pretty much my go-to polish, what I use when I can’t decide what I want to wear. I love it!!!

My husband and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we do nice things for each other all year long.

Just coincidentally, we are going out to eat Saturday afternoon, and my tips will be bare. We’re going to our neighborhood’s new wings and ribs restaurant, and when I clean up after that kind of mess, I have to be able to see what I’m doing!

Me and the bf think Valentine’s Day is a bit silly and forced. Because seriously, if things are good, shouldn’t every day be Valentine’s Day? Awwww. ^_^

That being said, I realize that my toes are Zoya’s Kiki – which is super hot pink. I did not even think about red nails and Valentine’s Day. I think I’ll do Chanel Blue Satin and wear black. Duh!

Totally with you on the anti-valentines day bandwagon!

In fact, our only single friend’s birthday is on valentines day, and all us coupled up people are all throwing him a big party and giving the V-DAY the middle finger!

And for the occasion, I’m donning Essie’s Bermuda Shorts! :)

I don’t like black polish, I’m way too pale to pull it off. But I do love dark polishes. My fav is Chanel Haute Chocolat (brown works much better w/my skin tone). Yes, I’m wearing red polish for v-day, but only cause I’m wearing a blue dress and I thought it would complement it nicely. I actually bought my first bottle of red to go w/said dress. I never wear pink or red polish, so I thought a little change up might be nice. And unlike some of the readers, I love Valentine’s Day. My husband was my first valentine ever and we savor every valentine we share. Plus any excuse to get all dolled up and spend a romantic evening together can’t be bad.

Valentine’s is both fun and trite to me. My V-Day mani is going to be Zoya’s Jo, because it arrived yesterday and I love it to bits and pieces, and isn’t love what the big hoopla is all about anyway? ;)

I LOVE Valentine’s Day! Mostly because my nick name is “V” so I just say Happy V Day and claim it as my Holiday. I’m very much a synic and don’t really believe in Marriage but for whatever reason I enjoy all holidays and red is my favorite color. I love just the idea of it getting pretty and girly, which i don’t do often, minus my nail polish obsession!
Oh and I will be wearing a deep Red polish haven’t decided which yet, going later for a mani/pedi.

Wow, I didn’t know it was Valentines Day today! Cool. I’m currently wearing Aqua Baby, which is not Valentines-esque at all. But this year, I’m embracing my single-ness. xD

I love the polish I have on. I mixed shades together to match this great pair of patent leather ombre pumps! They go from a taupe grey, to black. So I mixed orly Buried Treasure, and then OPI brand new skates to get this great metallic, taupe, sandy grey color! Its perfect!! Hope your having a great trip!

  14. Snoe says:

I love that polish! I’m such a sucker for beautiful dark shades :3 As for Valentine’s Day…I think some people take it too far but seriously – if you want a holiday to gripe at go after Christmas. That’s the pushiest money-making scheme of all time lol.

I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day.. so I wore China Glaze’s Emerald Sparkle, which got a *ton* of compliments while I rang up everyone’s last minute Valentine’s stuff
