NOTD – Cleveland Browns Opening Day Spirit

By on September 7, 2008

I’m not a sports fanatic or anything but I love me some Cleveland Browns football. In this town, football is king. No matter how bad the team sucks, we continue to support them and sell out the stadium. As season ticket holders we never miss a game, except maybe the lame pre-season ones. And for today’s season opener against Tony Romo & the Dallas Cowboys, I did a Browns themed mani in our team colors, natch. I wonder if Jessica Simpson will be there, cheering on her boy.

Such a mani requires the perfect shimmery brown and true pumpkin orange nail lacquers. I chose Zoya Pia and Carolyn New York Spanish Harlem. A pretty good match, no?

What’s on your tips today? Are you supporting your favorite team with polish?

My family came form columbous, so were buckeye fans. I always do some deep sparkly red polish or something grey.

So cute! I’m not really a football fan, but this makes me wish I had a favorite team! =)

  3. Amy says:

That’s adorable! Because Cleveland is playing Dallas, I’m rooting for the Browns all the way.

I’ve done a red/gold 49ers manicure that turned out pretty cute. I’m so glad the season has started again!

  4. Nosh says:

Oh you’re in cleveland! Me too :D

  5. PolishHappiness says:

I totally support my teams with polish. I use a China Glaze orange to support the TN Vols and a Zoya red to support the UNM Lobos! I always get compliments on the orange!

    cute!

i have nothing on my nails because i can’t wear it to work(at a sports grille). only one day in and i’m already tired of football season! it’s a ton of work and little $ =(

polishhappiness, which China Glaze orange do you use? My SO is a TN alum. :)

    Michelle,
Fab mani! Cleveland Browns? oh hell no! Who Dey, baby! I think that explains it all, but we can still be friends, right? hehe

Even know the Bengals suck, I’m still a huge supporter no matter what and never miss a game. This is one of my favorite things I look forward to in Fall.

My school colors are orange and black so i try to paint them whenever I go to hockey or basketball games!

I guess this would be a bad time to say I love black and gold! I was born in Western PA and raised a Steelers fan. I have bright gold polish that I bought to wear next gameday party I go to, however I live in Browns country so I never dare wear it. Think I should? Maybe…

I’m a baseball girl, and I spend a lot of the spring and summer with orange and black on my nails to support my Giants.

  12. Duffi McDermott says:

beautiful mani! I don’t do football, but I love those who do (DH is a Rams fan). I think he would fall over if I did a Rams mani. Hmmm, maybe a good idea…

Anon #1 – Go Bucks! So as a Buckeye fan, I assume you know what comes after, "Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on…" If not, rescind your title as an OSU fan. :D

TooShyToStop – Aww, you can always adopt the Browns as your favorite team. There are Browns Backers all over the country. You can join all of us as we watch our pre-season hopes get crushed week after week.

Amy – Oooh, red & gold. What colors did you use?

Nosh – Hi fellow Clevelander! It's great to have some hometown support.

PolishHappiness – What colors do you use? I have just about every orange China Glaze makes.

AshleyDanielle4 – A sports bar won't let you wear polish. The nerve! My BF was a BW3 bartender for three years so I sympathize.

Steph – We can both root for our crappy teams in harmony. I'd be happy for just one Ohio team to win something, no matter what part of the state they're from.

Annessa – How fun and festive. Yay for your school spirit. And I'm sure those colors come in handy at Halloween as well.

SBShaneOManiac – Another Clevelander? You're certainly not the first Steelers fan I've met in these parts. If you want to wear the black and gold I say go for it. The bonus of being a girl is that some drunk asshat won't pick a fight with you for it.

Anon #3 – There sure are a lot of teams with black and orange for their team colors. I secretly wish I lived in Green Bay just so I could wear my favorite polish color (green) to support the team.

Duffi – You should totally do it. Who cares if you're not a fan. I'm sure your hubby would get a kick out of it.

I’m not spirited this week (although I did watch and my team did win), but next week I plan to be. Black and gold (Saints), all the way!

Also, ff the Rays go to the postseason it’ll be an excellent excuse to sport blue tips. :)

  15. Tiffi33 says:

    Very nice..it matches pretty well!

We are in Pittsburgh..I need to see if I can find a gold passable to match the gold in our black & gold…its been a while since I painted my nails for the team :)

  16. Samara says:

I love team spirit! What a great idea.

  17. Atiyah says:

OHH thats such a good idea. I am a Washington Redskins fan. Now to find the right shades. If anyone can offer any help please feel free to chime in. Thanks!

  18. rbrinkley says:

I have also been known to have some orange toes – a Sally Hansen shade and OPI Don’t Be Koi With Me to support those Vols. But being a Furman Univ. alum I’m enjoying all the purples, last year it was OPI Siberian Nights but now I’m trying to pick which truly purple color to snag before Homecoming!

  19. Kelly says:

Cute. I totally forgot to paint my toes in my wonderfully new CHG Flying Dragon for the Ravens.

GO RAVENS (I promise to still read your blog even though you are a Browns fan).

  20. mumbleina says:

I just did this tonight, since my team (Canberra Raiders) have made the finals for the first time in years!

Had a hell of a time finding lime-green polish, though, so I ended up with this BYS stuff that smells like actual paint and took a couple of hours to touch-dry properly.
