OPI India Collection Comparisons

It’s OK, you can say it. What took me so long? Sifting through 1,000 bottles of polish is your answer. I compared the shades in the new OPI India collection to every bottle of lacquer I own.

I tried to meet most of your requests but there are some colors I just don’t own, like OPI Strawberry Margarita. Due to the number of comparison requests for Yoga-ta Get This Blue, they will be posted in their own entry. You all are blue crazy. I love it!

Some of the India polishes didn’t have a twin or any close relatives so I won’t waste time posting comparisons. Charmed By A Snake is nothing like the new China Glaze Unplugged. Lunch at the Delhi and Elephantastic Pink stand alone in the crowd. Even though I don’t own a ton of cremes I was still surprised by that.

I know a lot of people were hoping to find dupes for Black Cherry Chutney and Royal Rajah Ruby but as you can see below, they are unique. Maybe not to the casual observer but definitely to a polish connoisseur. RRR’s deep richness doesn’t exist anywhere else in my stash, especially when compared to the black based X and Midnight and Moscow. The same goes for BCC, it differs from its competitors in that its not a plum or a burgundy.

Essie Secret Affair, OPI Get Me To The Taj On Time, Zoya June

Lippmann Nefertiti, OPI Curry Up Don’t Be Late, Orly Gold Rush

CND Hot Pop Pink, OPI I’m Indi-a Mood For Love, OPI La Paz-itively Hot, Misa Ur Beautiful

OPI Cajun Shrimp, OPI MonSooner or Later, Zoya Hayley

OPI Midnight in Moscow, OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, China Glaze X, OPI It’s a Doozi Says Suzi

Carolyn New York Mugged on the Six Train, OPI Black Cherry Chutney, OPI Lincoln Park After Midnight, China Glaze X

Oscar Nail Watch – Marion Cotillard

Best Actress Oscar winner Marion Cotillard was a nail standout on the red carpet. While most of the ladies played it safe in sheers and neutrals, I couldn’t help but notice Marion’s metallic tips. Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann got her nails camera ready for the big event.

The shade Deborah chose; Believe, a gold with silver and bronze shimmer. It’s a very multidimensional shade. Believe is actually one of my mom’s favorite shades. I gave it to her because she is a huge Cher fan and Deborah created the shade with Cher.

The color looked very silver on the red carpet but you can see below that it is clearly gold.

Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Fall 2008 Preview

Backstage at the Tracy Reese Fall/Winter 2008 show I had the pleasure of previewing the Fall Sally Hansen Salon line. Tracy Reese collaborated with the wizards at Sally Hansen bring us yet another fabulous fashion inspired collection. According to the reps I met, the team from Sally Hansen sits down with Tracy to review her swatches and takes them back to the R&D department. In turn, they create 60+ shades from which Tracy hand picks the finished collection and names them with her creative team.

Fall 2008 is all about surprising pairings on the Tracy Reese runway: high-tech and natural, metallic and sheer, and rustic and refined are just a few of the bold juxtapositions. It’s a collection charged with the forces of nature, the beauty of art, and the power of abstraction. Together Tracy Reese and Sally Hansen translated these concepts into ten rich and dramatic nail lacquers that are as wearable as they are fashionable – on and off the runway.

As I reported earlier, Torrid Bloom was the shade chosen for the “Veiled Nail” runway look. The other colors include; Raven’s Wing, Moonstone, Quartz Chameleon, Divinity, The Good Earth, Cruel Heart, Alchemy, Torrid Bloom, Night Lily and Stormy Blue.
I was lucky to bring home a sample bottle of Stormy Blue to test out. It was the shade that called to me the most. You know how I love my blues and Stormy Blue is this amazing metallic steely blue. I heard it being called, “the new navy.” With all the grays I’ve seen coming down the pipe, this shade is the perfect mix of last fall’s navy trend and new mid-tone grays. Given it’s metallic quality, brush strokes were minimal and the bit of glittery sparkle you see in bright light makes this one a must have for blue lovers.Moonstone and Raven’s Wing were my other immediate favorites. Moonstone, a silvery gray shimmer, and Raven’s Wing, a black sparkler, are both high on glitz and very chic. The visible silver glitter in Raven’s Wing sets it apart from the black shimmers we’ve seen in the past.

The Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Fall collection won’t be out for a while but it’s always fun having something to look forward to.
