Sally Hansen Color Quick

Glamour’s February issue hit my mailbox today and as I did a quick skim before work I had to pause on the latest Sally Hansen ad. It features a new product due to hit shelves in February, the Color Quick.

Packaged in a pen style applicator, the Color Quick formula contains Panthenol and Vitamins A, C and E to condition nails and a UV protector to keep color fresh and true. Just click it, slick it and go!

Color Quick is available in the following shades: Clear Opal, Sheer Beige, Sheer Pink, Hot Pink, Orange, Red, Blue, and Black ($7.95).

I can’t wait to test these little beauties out. I played with the Yves Saint Laurent nail pen last summer and while the idea is fun, their colors weren’t. All sheers that applied streaky. Let’s hope these are much better. Has anyone tried a pen style polish? How did it apply?

I saw these at Walgreens today, but opted to pick up some Sinful Colors polishes instead. $8? I think I’ll stick with regular in-the-bottle polish.

This also caught my eye at Walgreens today, so I decided to grab one and try it out. And while bottled nail polish is reliable, the Color Quick worked very well. First off, remember to shake the pen before you use it. That was my first problem. :) It takes a bit for the color to come out (so be patient, or you’ll end up with too much color left over on the brush). Two/three coats was enough to color my nails, though they didn’t dry as smooth as I was hoping for. However, they dried pretty quickly, and so far any leftover nail polish on the brush hasn’t dried over.

What’s that blue one look like??

Avon used to have a pen-style nail polish many years ago – I remember that I liked playing around with it (but I was only about 10) but I’m not so sure it was the most fantastic thing application wise. It’ll be interesting to see how these are in comparison.

I love the idea of this, particularly because I suck at doing my nails!

Walmart has Nicole pens in several differnet colors. I wasn’t expecting them to work that great and they really didn’t. The polish was very runny. But if you need a fast fix you got it. The colors are good but the polish only lasted about a day and that was with a top coat. Stick with the bottle.

I know I have tried pens before, but it had to be in 1989 when I was about 12 years old. It didn’t work out so well.

Also around that time, they came out with the peel off nail polish which I think was worse.

I work at walgreens and bought one the moment they came in. It works very well, the color is great, not sticky. Also, the brush did not get clumpy or dried out after the first couple of uses, as I feared it would. Its worth a try, and Im sure the price will go down in a couple of months.

The same things are out by OPI. There is much more of a variety of colors but I haven’t tried them out yet.

I bought one in sheer beige. It came out of the pen well and dried quickly. I found the formula thin which is understandable because its in a pen. I also found the color streaky and the color looked milky in a bad way. I don’t know if the other colors are the same way but I won’t be buying these again

The pen itself is great, and the polish went on smoothly. As others have mentioned, it takes 2-3 coats for a finished look.

I bought the black, and it turned out to be an awful navy blue that reminded me of doing my nails with a sharpie in high school.
