NOTD – Nocti Flying Naked

Well, I’ve learned my lesson about trying to do a last minute mani. It’s a Don’t! I was trying to be quick like a bunny yesterday morning and I should have known better.

Cremes, brights and darks are not the kind of polishes you can just slap on and run out the door. Thank goodness this pic doesn’t show it but, I ended up with air bubbles from not waiting between coats, blue polish on my skin from rushing and overall blech-ness.

On the upside, I love the color. Nocti Flying Naked is bold and well pigmented. The shade flourishes even more under a shiny top coat and it flowed on my nail extremely well.

Now I know that the issue I had applying them to my nail art wheels was just because of the surface not the polish. Though I must point out that this is a two coat polish. The initial coat did go on a bit streaky and uneven. But the 2nd made it perfect. I’m always afraid of cremes because they magnify imperfections as compared to a shimmer/glitter polish but the nails that I didn’t eff up actually look really good and smooth.

So those of you that took the plunge and ordered Nocti sight unseen, I can honestly say you’ll be pleased.

Hello! I’m a fellow beautyblognetwork blogger and I dig your site. Congrats on your earlier post on your 100th entry.

About last minute manis – I feel the same way. I’m kind of a clutz to begin with, and every time I’ve attempted a quick manicure involving brights it ends up going badly. =(

There are just some things that you can’t rush! Manicures, smokey eyes …

I love this color! I’ve tried blues & purples before, and as much as I want them to be me — they’re not. This looks awesome! Hello Neu Rave!

Yay, I’m glad that you like it. I ordered Flying Naked the other day, so I’m glad I made a good choice :)

Some tips to eliminate air bubbles. Do not wash or soak your nails before polishing. (Your nails absorb the water and it evaporates as a gas, thus a bubble).
Clean your nail with a natural nail product like Remove+ (made by Zoya/Nocti). Also, use a drying product like 1/2 Time or Hurry Up drops (also Zoya line). They dry your polish evenly from top to base coat.

Karen – Thanks for checking me out.

Style It – How are you girlie? Blues aren’t for everyone, that’s for sure. I’m glad you like the color though.

hb – I appreciate the compliment. Do you have any fun blues like this in South Africa?

Kimmy – I hope you love the color as much as I do. You’ll have to report back once you get it.

Anon – Thanks for the tips. I swipe my nails with vinegar before polishing to remove any excess oils from the nail bed.

I rarely get air bubbles but I was sitting near an open window and it was breezy. I think that attributed to my bubbles more than anything.

Love this color! Reminds me of OPI’s Dating A Royal. I always gravitate to these colors (there was one I just loved from China Glaze a few years back, but the color name escapes me), but then wonder where I’m going to wear them, so I leave them at the store. Never heard of Nocti… I can’t believe how many lines there are out there…!

Nocti is owned by Zoya and they released a set of 6 neons/brights in the summer of 2007. I think they intended to expand the line at some point but haven’t. Unfortunately I don’t see them listed for sale on the Zoya site anymore. :( The other polish from that set that I adored is Nip/Tuck but it’s a dead-on dupe for China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

It sucks that this color is no longer available! I want! =0(
