NOTD – Nicole Paparazzi Plum

I love going to see my nail tech. She has this amazing wall of discontinued polish from Nicole, OPI and Creative. It’s a total treasure trove. It’s where I found my bottle of OPI Rainforest. There is this one Creative polish that I lust after. It’s called Amazon and it’s a stunning emerald green. Some day it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

I went to see her the other night and found this beauty on the wall. Nicole Paparazzi Plum is deep deep plum with subtle shimmer. I compared it to my swatch of OPI Lincoln Park At Midnight and they are very very close. So close that you don’t need to hunt this one down or pay crazy eBay prices for it.

I really enjoy doing my own nails and taking the time to do them well but there’s something so relaxing about getting a manicure. I’m not gonna lie, when I do my nails, it takes me a while. It has taken me quite some time to get over my clumsiness and improve my polish application. So, watching a pro is fun for me. Every time I see her, I pick up some new. Either how much polish she leaves on the brush or exactly where on the nail she starts applying. Every little bit helps make me better.

So kids, what’s on your nails today?

Today I am wearing OPI LPAD. I applied it on tuesday and I have no idea what I did differently this time but not a chip yet! Although I need to change it tonight to a lighter color and I feel so bad removing a perfectly good polish job that I am so proud of at the moment.
Ahh, I LOVE La Boheme, but alas I do not own it. It has to be one of my favorite colors of all time. I was wearing it last time I saw my nail tech.

I was wearing a dark plum earlier this week (Nicole Fashion Diva), but now I’m wearing a sheer pink creme that is dvine. I love this OPI Rose Petals–very elegant.

Hi, I found your site through iamtan.com. I saw your post on being mentioned in Glamour. I am “new” nail polish girl. I am 24 and I have always bitten my nails up until about a month ago and I decided it was time to quit and go cold turkey! The only way for me to avoid biting it to keep them pretty with polish. Currently they are a short sporty length, much like yours in the pictures, and this is where I want them to stay. My question though concerns polish and removal and staining. I have tried using clear polish beneath my colored polishes and sometimes it works and other times it seems that the polishes do not want to be layered with each other. How can I avoid ugly red and dark staining? I am in love with the deeper reds and plums at the moment. Thanks for your help and advice. This website is awesome!!

I’ve got bare naked nails right now (eek!), but I am giving myself an at home spa day tomorrow, and I’m gonna go with either OPI Lincoln Park After Dark or Essie Wicked – I’m embracing the cold weather with a dark color!

That color is gorgeous! Since losing my entire nail polish stash, I need to restock, and a deep plum will definitely be on my list!

I’ve got on a UV-reactive bright ultramarine blue from Stargazer Beauty, which is this awesome British-based alternative beauty brand (think Manic Panic, only I like Stargazer’s stuff better) and a coat of Dior Addict’s Silver 403 over it.

And since you know probably a lot more than I do on polish, can you recommend a good, metallic, faux-metal appearance silver? I’ve been wanting one for…well, since fifth grade (I’m twenty-two now) and so far I haven’t found one I like. The closest I got was Milani, but it was chipped all to hell in about two days.

My favorite silver is the Easle Come, Easle Go in the Finger Paints line at Sally’s Beauty Supply.
